Career Guidance and Job Fair Held

A one-day Career Counseling and Job Fair was organized in Triyuga Municipality, Gaighat, State 1 on 31 May 2019.
The Fair was organized jointly by Triyuga Municipality, Triyuga Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries, Udaypur. A Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) funded project ENSSURE, implemented by CTEVT with technical assistance from HELVETAS Nepal, provided technical support to organize the fair.
The Fair was held in the premises of Triyuga Namuna Secondary School and nearly 5000 visitors observed the fair. There were total of 30 stalls of career counseling service provider, training providers, employers, Employment Information Centre, Safer Migration Project (SaMi) and so on.
More than 2000 youths received general career guidance services out of which 1300 youths received in-depth career guidance servcies in the stall set up by ENSSURE’s partner ANTARANG Psychosocial Counselling and Research Centre. Youths were provided information on the topics work, job, occupation, technical education, training and career path. More than 2000 youths were provided counseling services on the employment opportunities from the Employment Information Centre and more than 300 youths were provided information about safer migration from the stall of Safer Migration Project.
23 youth were offered the job on-the-spot by related employers against 900 positions called by local industries. More than 150 applications for job were shortlisted for further selection process.
Nearly 1200 youth expressed their interests at the stalls of training providers towards learning various skills training to enhance their employability.
The programme was chaired by Triyuga Mayor Baldev Chaudhary while State 1’s Social Development Ministry Jeevan Ghimire was the chief guest. During his address, Minister Ghimire hoped that such programmes would tackle the problem of unemployment in the country. State MPs Bimal Karki, Narayan Burja Magar, Kala Ghale, Ambika Thapa and Sunita Chaudhary among others were the guest. Welcome speech was delivered by Triyuga Municipality’s deputy Mayor Devi Chaudhary while Mayor Chaudhary shed light on the importance of the career guidance.
